Get This Amazing. My friend's mother's Hall in Arizona is finally paid for but it is sitting on some very valuable real estate. So What happens? The "beneviolent and kind" WT society tells them to sell it. Guess who gets the money...the WTBS. A new hall is built and and with it a new mortgage with the payments going to the Society at 3% interest!...The Society is an expert like a magician distracting you with one hand (3% inflation loans, free home Bible (book) studys and contrabution only litter-ature) while the other hand fleeces your pockets. Should WTS Charge Interest?
by Amazing inwhen i first became accounts servant (before the elder/ms structure) i was surprised to learn that the watchtower society charged interest on kingdom hall loans.
the rate was 3%.
typical interest rates from commercial lenders on home mortgages at the time was about 6% to 7% ... i questioned the practice, and the jw man who turned to accounts records over to me made the point that inflation was about 3% or 4%, and therefore, the soceity was merely getting back the same buying power it had when it loaned the money ... and it beat bank rates, so he saw nothing wrong with it.

Did the 1914 Generation Die Anyway?
by JanH indid the 1914 generation die anyway?
ver since the beginning of the watchtower movement, they have had some sort of deadline for god's activities.these activities could be the rapture of the saints (which jws today do not believe in), the destruction of "false religion", ie every other religious group, or the final end of this world.
earlier, these deadlines were explicit dates.

Great, Great, Great Post!!!! I was a weak Dubby at that time. November 1995 sent me over the edge reading "apostate stuff" and so on. I never will forget my conversations about this with the elders. One said to me "I am going to grow old and die in this system of things but being a JW is a comfortable place for me" The second said "When you die it's like falling asleep and then you wake up" THAT was the first thing he said to me when I asked him what he thought of the Society's change. The third said to me, "It's not really a big change at all". I said "what do you mean "not a big change"? If I was to ask you 6 months ago what JW's believe that would be one of the things that you would mention" He didn't know what to say.

Two things;
Read one chapter from 'C of C' or 'In Search of Christian Freedom' and then, if you must, one of theirs. This will help to potential brainwashing.
Try to avoid contact with elders if at all possible. Don't return their calls, don't answer the door, hide behind your answer machine, and if you run into them smile and if they want to set up an appointment tell them to call you at home for this and ... I tried this and in a few years they forgot all about me. It's the best way. We have all got enough to worry about without having their mental games going around or heads. Out of sight out of mind.

Split infinitive ruins society
by the follower ina couple of years ago the queen in her address to the nation used a split infinitive for the first time.
needless to say, society has been reeling from the consequences of this lapse of judgement ever since.
there are fewer things i feel more strongly about.

I don't know what you are talken about. Whats a split infinative anyway? Whats this got too do about the Society anyway? I've never heard them say that this as one of the problems that Jehovahs gonna wipe out??

Thank You Tallyman
It is true that we lived for the 'Great Terrorist's Promise.' Your web site is a reminder of the sickness of the indoctrinated JW mind and those who are most responsible, the people who live at the end of the Brooklyn Bridge. -

Great Post Met!!
I have always enjoyed your intellegent posts. You are one of JW.com's best.
When I was a J-dumb I would get irritated with "the Jesus this and Jesus that" of the Babylonian wretches. I used to say the churches made too much of a deal about Christ. Being a JW you worship the organization first and "Jehovah just sits around and gets pissed off allot. And Christ? he may as well go on a vacation and put his automatic prayer relay machine on". My former thinking.

Your post hit some buttons and memories with me. I was terrified as a child to the demon scare and the Armegeddom fear.
"Be nice to your little sister our you will die in Armegeddon, etc" When I got older I felt like a Jew living in 1930's Nazi Germany with preknowledge of the coming Holocast. I was depressed ALL the time!
When I left I met with the strongest elder of the congregation and went Bible verse to Bible verse for 5 hours in his truck. I had him on 9 out of 10 scriptures and it was great! I gave him a taste of his own medicine that he had been dealing out for years. I told him that he would be judged if he taught error and I showed him where. I told him that I was doing this because I was concerned about HIS spiritual wellfare! I was never DFed but I know the word is out on me.
I never regret turning the tables on these guys. They should be told off and called on the carpet for their sins.
